The first edition of six prints was completed in Two Rivers WI at the Hamilton Wood Type and Printing Museum during Really Big Prints, a multiday biannual steamroller printing event July 2025.

It started as a drawing I had done in 2021 after a winter hike in a local state park seeing this lone stand of trees on a berm in the middle of a grassy field. After finishing the drawing, I knew it wasn't complete and wanted to make something from it, but I was unsure of the direction to take. Then when I came upon the Really Big Prints event and decided to undertake my first woodcut, I decided that this was the time to take this image to her completion. “Awaiting the Awakening” carries several meanings personally about the cyclical nature of life, death and rebirth, and my hopes for humanity to connect with each other and the land to protect the earth for our future generations
