Welcome to my home, my inspiration, my sacred space, on the Crawfish River.
Hello, my name is Erin Lueck and I am the artist behind On the Crawfish Studio.
My inspiration is drawn from the wooded lowlands along the Crawfish River where I live in southcentral Wisconsin. I create small, mostly hand pressed editions, working in linocut and woodcut printmaking methods.
I have a strong connection to nature and the land I live on and I enjoy inspiring others to step outside, observe and be part of the world around them. I also feel a personal connection to the cycles of nature and have been exploring my relationship to it. My work focuses on this union to nature as a whole through detailed studies and whimsical narrative illustrations.
In addition to my fine art prints I also find joy upcycling clothing. Printing on pre-loved clothing allows me to make my work accessible to a wider audience without contributing to the waste of garment industry and creating truly one of a kind pieces of wearable art. These items are currently only available at my in person shows.
I enjoy the entire process of printmaking from illustrating my ideas in ink, to carving out each space and pattern, and finally working with paper which gives me an ongoing link to the trees I feel so close to. In sharing my art and light through printmaking, my hope is that I can inspire others to share their light as well, to grow our connections to each other and nature as a whole.
